As Musical Director of ANTHEM I am delighted that you have taken the time to explore our website. One of the things about ANTHEM is that it does not define what sort of choir we are, as I firmly believe that you should not have to be constrained by what we do when you are choosing your music.
So if you want gospel, we sing gospel; if you want classical, pop, rock, folk, comedy, or even multi-instrumental we can do that too. This allows you maximum choice in choosing exactly what you want.
I love taking a song, even a solo, and writing harmonies for the choir to sing, so that you can have multi-part arrangements for pretty much any song you want, this is part of what we do.

Des has been performing and playing music in various choirs for over 30 years, all over Dublin. He is currently Musical Director of the award-winning Dun Laoghaire Musical and Dramatic Society (DMDS) and it was out of DMDS Anthem was born in 2007. He is also Director of Music in St. Catherine and St. James’s Church, Donore Avenue, off South Circular Road. Despite his love for Musical Theatre his real musical influences are Tom Waits, Nina Simone, Leonard Cohen and Jools Holland!

His focus is very much on the performance of the music as well as the singing, and therefore he arranges harmonies for most songs to ensure a maximum choral effect – basically to show off just how good ANTHEM is!
